Cutting-Edge Pilot Study – Real Results for Industrial Sustainability
Ecology Solution, in collaboration with UTAR and CQU, successfully piloted a 2000-liter anaerobic biofilm reactor to treat high-strength Palm Oil Mill Effluent (POME). The system achieved:
✅ 90% COD reduction (from 60,000 to 6,118 mg/L) in just 13.3 days HRT
✅ Stable biogas production & improved sludge reduction
✅ Compact, energy-efficient design outperforming traditional lagoon systems
The project proves the potential of biofilm-based anaerobic digestion as a scalable, sustainable solution for the palm oil industry — aligning with MSPO, SDG 6, and low-carbon economy goals.
